Nothing warms my heart quite as much as witnessing the rich and famous use their resources to bring about positive change. And while not everyone can pull an Angelina and adopt half of the starving children in the world, small-scale contributions are always accepted and appreciated.
With that being said, I think Hope For Haiti Now embodies the spirit of giving in a way that no monetary donation ever could. Many of the biggest names in the music industry gave of something far more precious to create this compilation - time. Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, and Jennifer Hudson are just a few of the artists who gave of their talent in order to help the various Haiti relief funds that have been established. 100% of the album's proceeds go to these charities, as do the proceeds of Jay Z, Bono, The Edge, and Rihanna's single, "Stranded - Haiti Mon Amour."
The album contains new versions of chart-topping hits such as Beyonce's "Halo" and Madonna's "Like A Prayer", but even more impressive are the covers. One standout is Shakira's rendition of "I'll Stand By You", which is unlike anything youve ever heard from the She-Wolf.
So do yourself (not to mention the thousands of people who were harmed in this disaster) a favor and buy this album. It's a mere $7.99 contribution that could make a huge difference.
